Wonderfully relentless and delightful menace. Majestic, vile, it plunges you into destructive depths and lifts you above the sky. It is supreme and petty. Such is this damned love. Because it doesn’t exist by itself, there is no pure love, a thousand desires and compulsions cling to it. It revolts you even against the father, cleanses you of your former love, strengthens your power, and forces you to hurt yourself. To fall in love with your own imagination, with the love of another, with unattainability, with power. And to fall sparkling, stupefied into this love.
