HUMANS AND GODS is a performance about the afterlife – about all the lives we never had the chance to live. With humor and tragedy, we invite the audience to peer inside the human machinery: a strange creature of startling contradictions, forever running toward something impalpable. This living installation brings together scattered destinies, gradually reassembling them piece by piece. Its characters are fragments – half human, half divine – cast into an accident carefully shaped by a curatorial vision. They carry hedonistic memories, perform rites of passage, cross invisible boundaries, and, for one last time, look back on lives lived to the fullest, reminding us that everything is fleeting.
‘Here, where time has stopped. Here, where the statute of limitations has been suspended.
Here, in this tableau of flesh and iron.’ (Andrei Măjeri)
The project was carried out with the support of the National Cultural Fund Administration of Hungary.

“The moment when, supposedly caught between life and death, a person looks back on their life. Everything they have lived through and everything they have missed flashes before their eyes.”

“Măjeri’s intention is no secret: he creates a purgatory in which the revolving stage becomes a kind of roundabout of death, showing the characters’ final few minutes after death and posing a single fundamental question to the characters standing at the gates of death (and, at the same time, to the audience): did they do everything they could to truly live?”

“I don’t know why, but I have the impression that our people are the most “afraid” of death, the ones who avoid talking about it the most, and especially making jokes about it.”

“27 actors on a single stage. Different generations: seasoned actors, young performers already making their mark, and students. The team spirit is immediately palpable.”
