A co-production of the Tompa Miklós Company of the National Theater Târgu Mureș and Yorick Studio

The story takes place during the final weeks of Ceaușescu’s dictatorship. Through the eyes of the most sensitive generation – adolescents – the author reveals the deepest and darkest depths of this hopeless period.

Three boys on the verge of their baccalaureate exams rebel against the constraints of everyday life and embark on anti-regime actions. Although the motives of Péter, a born rebel; Zoli, a conformist torn between the authorities and his friends; and Áron, who is at odds with the whole world, including himself, are entirely different, their initial successes prove intoxicating for all three. Thirty years later, at a class reunion, they are forced to confront the true consequences of their actions.

Thirty years on, as the experience of that historical period gradually fades and fewer and fewer people remain interested in understanding why these things happened and what their consequences were, it is all the more important to talk about them again. To remember, to tell the stories, to reflect. To hold up a mirror.

Stage adaptation of the novel: Barabás Olga
